Media Foundation 360, under the banner of Newslens, arranged an E- Seminar on “News Value” on Thursday, 12th February 2015. The interactive session was held by senior journalist Hasan Khan that lasted for two hours. Media students and professionals from print and broadcast media attended the webinar in which they discussed different story ideas with the presenter and got valuable advice and mentoring. The purpose of this webinar was to introduce participants of general guidelines and criteria to determine the importance of a news story. Participants were told how news editors in the newsroom determine which story is news worthy and which is not. The presenter also discussed factors that determine placement of stories and a set of principles that comes under ethics as well as identify newsworthy information.
