Lahore: Media Foundation 360 in collaboration with DAI held 12 student mobilization seminars at the University of the Punjab from 22nd June 2021 to 1st July 2021. The purpose of these seminars was to strengthen and build the capacity of student societies on CVE. It also sought to mobilize and encourage students to become a part of three student societies in order to become peace agents and to promote harmony and tolerance among their peers at the university. Capacity building of university students, especially media students, is key since the presence of VE narratives across different media forums is creating systematic disinformation.
In these 12 seminars, students were mobilized to become a part of three student societies: 1) Culture Society 2) Peace Society, and 3) Radio Society. These student societies along with faculty members will implement CVE-centered social action projects, which will allow them to translate CVE concepts into practical action on campus.
Each session had 25 students, including female students and students from hostel, from different departments including the Institute of Communication Studies, Gender Studies department, and Sociology department.
In every session, Project Director Mr. Mubasher Bukhari briefed the students about this project conducted by Media Foundation 360 in collaboration with the University of the Punjab. In contrast, Project Manager Mr. Hasnain Tirmazi briefed the students about three societies and their purpose. He also briefed them about the membership form and criteria for students’ selection for these societies. At the end of the session, membership forms were handed out to be filled in by the students.
